Take a step back

At the end of the day it does hurt you if someone says something mean about you .. take a step back and ask yourself if you should let it affect you?!

We truly shouldn’t talk poorly about someone who hurts us- without giving them credit for what they’ve taught us!

Yes, it sounds wild to think that we would give credit to an individual that may have hurt us more than anyone. Although, it does put a positive spin on how we feel about the hurt!

Today, I am writing from the waiting room at Salina Surgical as our middle son, Landon is having surgery on his left ankle that he injured four days ago while skateboarding! I am thankful for coffee, my new boutique hat on day three hair, and Snapchat filters to help these tired eyes look good!๐Ÿ˜† My new Apple phone is a little too good! I am praying and optimistic for a great outcome for Landon’s surgery! He’s in good hands, Dr. Daily, who is very reputable and has already done surgery on Landon’s right knee!

I have been thinking about writing about overcoming being hurt by our loved ones for a bit. My husband, John.. who I greatly admire says we should not say only the hard parts about a person, unless we are willing to tell the good parts too! What an amazing way to perpetually look at a any hard circumstance!

In other words, we may have been hurt to the core by a loved one and think we could never overcome it. I myself, have recently struggled in my relationship with my mom. Honestly, when I take a step back and think about it I know she means well!

I am learning to love while putting boundaries in place to protect my heart! At the same time I do not want to become hard-hearted! I refuse to let a bad situation take that much hold in my life. I also know that forgiveness sets us free!

I think my mom is awesome! She gave birth to me at the young age of sixteen and raised me against all odds! She has had her share of struggles in raising myself and my three siblings, my little sis and two younger brothers! I think it’s fair to say she is currently struggling with her health. Mental health and addiction have been at the forefront in my family for a few generations. The repercussions of those difficulties are real! I am not going to make excuses for anyone’s behavior. After all, we are responsible for our own actions! Although, we all are interpreting and responding to life how we see it! I can assure you that any time I take a step back and find a positive spin on any hard parts of my life, it has only helped me to live my best life!! I am happy to say that my mom, who is a nurse called last night to say a prayer for Landon’s surgery today. She also dedicated the song, You Are The Reason by Calum Scott to him. She definitely can make a person feel special!โค๏ธ I want to believe only the good qualities are inherited or in my DNA!๐Ÿ˜†

You are who you choose to be! Be forgiving, be uplifting, be strong and for goodness sake don’t talk poorly about others.. it won’t change the circumstance. My Granny Corz always said, “never state the obvious” .. she also said, “pretty is as pretty does!” I think I am pretty most of the time, I am human though! I also believe beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In other words.. it’s our choice to see beauty.. especially when we are in a storm of life! I honestly have learned that if I am going to hurt .. I am going to hurt in the most beautiful way possible!

Today, I am hurting for my middle son as he has to have surgery from sustaining an ankle injury while skateboarding! I am hurting because he just started his barbering career a week prior to his injury and he has already overcome so much. I also know in my heart that this will be a story of strength, willpower and passion! There is no other way to press forward ..than with our best foot forward! I am always remembering there are harder conditions in this world!!

In closing, I must add that my dear techie friend, Carly, who has been helping me get my blogging journey underway, recently told me that there is an old adage, “you can’t manage what you don’t measure!” This came up when discussing whether I should just add a link to my Facebook post for my blog entries. The answer is, yes!.. because if I just post to my Facebook page I won’t build traffic on my blog site or even know my stats. ๐Ÿคช Listen guys.. I wanted to start blogging/vlogging to be encouraging, relatable and to let others know they aren’t alone! If you could like, share and give feedback to my blog entries it would mean the world to me! โค๏ธ

Stay Rosy, Amber
