What is the difference between break culture and hustle culture? An alternative to the fast-paced, stress-filled life that our modern society so often promotes and produces in our lives. It’s an intentional shift in perspective!
Focusing on our value system and prioritizing what is most important to us >> IS LIFE CHANGING! In other words.. squeezing the good out of hard. I am making this heartfelt blog entry a priority early today! I have an alarm set to post around 11am.. according to algorithms, etc.. it’s the most ideal time to post. If you see this, read this and it speaks to you.. show a girl some love and like, share comment!!
Ideally, we will land a job and purpose we believe in. I have been a hairdresser for over twenty years. Honestly, I love to take care of others. I thought I was going to be a nurse, even working as a nurse’s aide from the time I was sixteen through cosmetology school. What I realized is I feel too heavy/sad being around people who are sick. I definitely don’t do well with people not breathing or bleeding. I realized a career that allowed me to make others feel better and send them on their way was a better life for me.
Next up, I became a hairdresser and was good at my job. Although, about ten years in I became envious of some of the “soccer moms” that sat in my chair. It took a bit to realize everyone’s hard is different. Being a stay-at-home soccer mom has its own hard! I went on to realize I must squeeze the good out of hard. Focusing on my skill set, realizing that I was advancing, attracting like-minded people for hair services, making others feel good, and being a prideful business owner over-shined any of the challenges!
Yes, it’s good-busy! What I do know is that focusing on the good parts, staying consistent at what you do and being in the moment is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.
Good busy is a lovely state of being. You start your day optimistic and energized to tackle what you set out the day before. You end the day feeling rewarded and proud about what you accomplished, the people you spent time with and the extra time you carved out for just you.
I don’t want to rush, I don’t want to make others feel as though I am on to the next thing. With practice you become better at whatever you are doing .. And can be in that present moment even more.
I feel sad for those that seem weighed down by their work, family and lives. We are given this life to live and be happy. I promise if you squeeze the good out of whatever challenge you are facing, stop rushing, and never believe you and your time are more valuable than someone else’s .. YOUR LIFE WILL DRASTICALLY CHANGE! I know firsthand. I always use the term, good-busy! I am happy to be busy doing what I love. Hospitality, entertaining, design of any kind and making moments memorable for others makes my heart skip a beat. Love big and yes you can focus, be goal oriented, accomplish big things and still not cave to the hustle culture.
We must practice self care. Whatever that looks like for each of us individually. We can make ‘taking time for ourselves’ the priority, while still accomplishing BIG things.
I am so excited for the upcoming year. My husband and I plan to do more in the way of renovating and reaching goals. With a clear head and much needed rest we can be more productive!
After a trip to Europe in October, I realized that I had already started living with more productivity in shorter stints.. making time for other things I want to do. The European culture is very much like that and I LOVE IT! We can be here to accomplish great things and enjoy it simultaneously!!
I do believe in working hard. If you can realize the greater good of what you bring to whatever you are doing, be present, and slow down a bit you will realize what areas you truly need to take time for and maybe even what you need to let go of.
I am a parent of four adult kids.. I know it feels hard while raising kids. I also know that when I focus on what kind of parent I want to be, what I want to be remembered for and to give what I am doing my all.. I feel at peace with the busyness and don’t even feel as busy. I feel like I am doing what my purpose is, knowing the good Lord is on my side.
I am not saying to never hustle. I am saying hustle for what is important and regroup when necessary.
Talk therapy has been life changing for our family! When you find the right therapist that truly cares about their impact in the world, hear yourself tell them/a neutral party the challenges in your life.. it suddenly will assist you in making the necessary shift to live your best life!
Try the break culture! Find yourself in a quiet moment, start and finish your day in prayer, be thankful and recognize all the good in your life! Be moved by your innermost wishes!
I am constantly asked how I accomplish all that I do. The honest answer is that I love what I am working towards, what I have chosen, what my purpose is! You can to! And I do believe you feel less of the mind-numbing hustle when you chose carefully what is for you! Do your best and forget the rest!
SLOW DOWN A BIT AND ENJOY THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!! TAKE TIME TO DREAM AND FEEL THE SUNSHINE!☀️
Stay rosy, Amber 🤍🤟
