Play on Each other’s Strengths!

We must play on each other’s strengths as a community, in our relationships, in our families, places of work, etc.! Today I feel a pull at my heart strings to write about playing on each other’s strengths! I am forty- one years old (soon to be forty-two in February) and on this very day it came to me just how important it really is to play on each other’s strengths!

I have had a very sweet older gentleman, who’s had a stroke trying to get to get in my chair for a haircut since before the holidays. He has been struggling with memory and hasn’t been able to nail down a ride to come in for his haircut. For some reason the good Lord put it on me to go pick him up. I gave him his haircut and my next haircut appt. arrived. I asked him to wait and as soon as I finished I would take him home. My next client offered to give him a ride, so I could stay on schedule. Good people still exist in this world! This was an ahha moment of becoming aware~ one good action can lead to more good actions. We lead by example!

The very moment I realized how important playing on each other’s strengths is>> was as I was visiting with my husband on the phone as I drove to work. He had just finished up at his Thursday morning realty meeting. He was talking about going to meet with a client to go over the process of listing her home.. and then he was getting AI generated head shots from one of his colleagues. John is pretty adaptable. He’s often willing to try things others won’t. He is great at thinking outside of the box, while having a clear guideline of how to get to the end goal. I on the other hand am very creative and free-spirited and never want to feel confined to a strict schedule or environment. Call me whimsical! I somehow jumped right off the topic he was on to tell him.. I had just had an epiphany about how we have the ability to help others! I went on to say, we just have to figure out our approach! I know we both want to share our experiences, knowledge and expertise.. and at the same time we don’t like to be intimidating or come across as know-it-alls.

Hospitality is my goal! I believe in my heart that it is my calling to entertain and assist in any and every aspect! I love to see others enjoying, celebrating and coming together. I love it all down to the most minute detail! Design is another strength of mine! I am lucky to have a husband who is a Jack-of-All-trades and has skills in many different areas! He is handy~ I can see him assisting in lots of things, per normal!

Identifying and using your strengths enhances your capacity for greater well-being and happiness. My husband, Johnny (business partner, realtor, and entrepreneur) and I have truly learned through talk therapy that we both have different skills and strengths and are working hard to continue to improve where needed!

I encourage you to really think about your strengths and use them! Character strengths such as hope, zest, gratitude, love, and curiosityβ€”are consistently related to greater life satisfaction and positive emotions.

Hope for tomorrow, zest for life, gratitude for all things large and small, knowing love is always the answer, and staying curious have helped me to find and live my best life! You should too!

Stay Rosy, Amber 🀍🀟
