Fresh out of high school, I jumped headfirst into entrepreneurship, attending cosmetology school and immediately opening my own salon in our hometown. We had our firstborn son, Keith in October of our Sr. year and month out of high school, I married my high school sweetheart, John. While he spent five years in management and earned his business credentials, he eventually decided to join me in the beauty industry. Together, we partnered with the SBA, wrote a business plan, and made the move to Salina, where we’ve owned and operated Thiessen-Elise Salon for the past seventeen years.
In those years, we’ve built more than just a business—we’ve built a life. We raised our four incredible kids—Keith, Landon, Ike, and Aleah—here in Salina. We were honored to be chosen as Emerging Business of the Year in 2010, and around that time, we relocated to our current space at 1004 East Crawford, where we’ve proudly served our community ever since.
I grew up in a family where renovation was second nature—my brother used to joke that we had sheetrock dust in our Cheerios. That passion for transforming spaces never left me. My husband, John, is incredibly handy, and together, we raised our family while constantly taking on renovation projects. About five years ago, John transitioned into real estate, and recently, our oldest son, Keith, and I joined him, forming The Klassen Group. With our unique blend of skills, we bring a seamless approach to buying and selling real estate:
• I have an eye for design and love building relationships.
• Keith is young, driven, and brings a fresh perspective with his business degree.
• John is a true businessman through and through, with a background rooted in entrepreneurship and international sales.
Beyond our careers, our story is one of resilience and grit. John and I first started dating after I survived a life-threatening car accident. I was on bed rest, and he brought me my homework for extra credit. That was the beginning of our journey—one marked by overcoming challenges, breaking family cycles, and chasing big dreams.
We were teen parents, and for years, every penny we made went into raising our family and building our businesses. Now, we’re focused on growing our future and creating new opportunities. One of my biggest dreams is to open a quaint event venue on our countryside property, where we currently reside and have an Airbnb in our guesthouse. This idea makes my husband crazy!😜 A building for gathering would be a great addition!🙂
When you support us—whether through our salon or real estate—you’re backing a family that has worked tirelessly to build something meaningful. We believe in turning challenges into opportunities and helping others do the same.
We’d love to be a part of your journey, whether that’s finding your dream home, creating a fresh new look, or just sharing stories of resilience and reinvention.
Let’s build something amazing together!!
Stay Rosy, Amber 🤍🤟
