Spending time in San Francisco at the iconic Phoenix Hotel with my bestie Alysun has already been such a vibe—but today? Today was indescribable. After arriving with just four hours of sleep on day one, we powered through and explored all the local gems nearby. But today—we made it to Big Sur.

And WOW… it delivered.

From the moment we stepped foot on the purple sand beach to chasing waterfalls, standing in awe of the towering redwoods, and stumbling upon the most charming spot—Big Sur River Inn (yes, with the dreamiest view of people floating down the river in tubes!)—it felt like we were inside a postcard. Every new thing we experienced somehow outshined the last.

We scored the best seats at the River Inn’s little restaurant, overlooking the river, nature wrapping around us like a hug. It honestly made me think of when we’d ask our kids their favorite part of the day, and Aleah would always say, “right now.” That’s exactly how this whole trip has felt. One magical “right now” after another.

I’ve found the perfect travel buddy in Alysun—our adventure style just clicks. We’re all about exploring, immersing, feeling every moment. I truly think this might be the most beautiful place on Earth.

After yesterday’s whirlwind, we finally caught up on sleep—8 solid hours!—and were up before sunrise, ready to soak in every second of day 2. Tomorrow’s our last day here, and while I’m feeling a little tired (it is 12:50am back home in Kansas), my heart is so full.
