My husband’s heart is quiet,
Not one to share all the mess—
The parts of life that rumble loud,
Or days that feel like tests.
But still he softly tells me,
“Your words help others see—
That hope is found in broken things,
And strength in you and me.”
A Tuesday meant for slowing down,
For training, reels, and rest—
A few quick hours behind the chair,
And time to do our best.
A text came in from Mom-in-law,
“Did hail come down your way?”
We hadn’t felt the damage yet—
But that would change that day.
The Jeep stood still, the key misplaced,
No way to reach the door—
And what we saw inside the shop
We simply could not ignore.
The drips we feared had made their mark,
The worst we’d seen so far—
Fifteen years in this old space,
Now rain beneath the stars.
We called a friend, a roofer kind,
He gave us wisdom, grace—
“You’ll need a fix that lasts this time,”
We stood and faced our place.
Our sons came by with helping hands,
I kept them fueled with care—
A sandwich and some Starbucks cups,
And gratitude to spare.
By dusk, just Johnny, me, and faith—
The roof still wet and wide—
We rolled a coat of strength and grit,
With prayers on every side.
The sky grew dark, the work went on,
Our arms and hearts were sore—
But sometimes grit looks just like this:
A couple giving more.
Our daughter’s staying close to home,
With dreams to do hair too—
A legacy at Thiessen-Elise,
A path she will pursue.
So even though the weather warns,
And choices must be made—
We feel our roots grow deeper still
Through every plan we’ve laid.
We may not share each messy piece,
But here’s what you should know:
Even when the roof gives in,
The faith still helps us grow.
Stay Rosy, Amber 🤍🤟
