Some Days Carry a Little More

Some days just carry a little more.

More emotion.
More questions.
More gratitude for the people walking beside us.

This week has been one of those weeks for me.

Our son Ike has been navigating some health struggles, and when your child is hurting, even when they’re grown, your heart just goes right there with them. We made a trip to KU Med hoping to gather some answers and direction. I’ve always believed that knowledge is powerful, even when the road ahead still feels uncertain. Watching Ike face things with courage reminds me that strength doesn’t always look loud — sometimes it simply looks like showing up.

At the same time, our hearts have been tender as we continue helping Bernie transition through a difficult season of life. This morning feels especially tender. I’m pretty sure Bernie was moved to the same facility where Mary was staying when she asked me to come pick her up. Life has a way of bringing moments full circle, and sometimes those circles carry a lot of memories with them.

After our Salina Homes meeting this morning, I’m planning to go visit Bernie. My heart just keeps reminding me that showing up matters. Even when the circumstances are hard… even when we don’t have all the answers.

Bernie really isn’t in a position to live on his own at this point, and that’s a tough reality for anyone to face. But I’m praying that however this all unfolds is exactly how it’s meant to be. Sometimes the best we can do is trust that God is guiding the steps, even when the path feels uncertain.

And if I’m being honest, I’ve been a little under the weather myself. Sinus congestion has me moving a bit slower than usual (which anyone who knows me understands is not my favorite pace). But sometimes even that is a quiet reminder to pause, breathe, and take care of ourselves so we can keep showing up for the people who matter most.

Life rarely hands us perfectly balanced days. Some days feel heavy. Some feel hopeful. Most are a mix of both.

But here’s what I keep coming back to:

We don’t have to walk any of it alone.

Family shows up.
Friends check in.
Prayers lift people in ways we cannot always see.

If you happen to think of Bernie today, we would truly appreciate your prayers — for peace, comfort, and wisdom for everyone helping care for him.

And if you’re in a season that feels uncertain or a little heavy right now, know that you’re not alone in that either. We’re all just doing the best we can — loving our people, searching for answers, and moving forward one step at a time.

And sometimes, that is more than enough.

Stay Rosy, Amber 🤍🤟
