I spent most of my adult life being needed.
Four kids. A marriage. A salon. Clients. Homes. Real estate. Projects. Celebrations. And all the everyday things that keep a busy family moving.
I became very good at showing up—and I’m proud of the life we created along the way.
Now our kids are grown and building lives and families of their own. I’m becoming a Lolli all over again, working toward doing more in real estate and home renovations, and slowly creating space for whatever comes next.
It’s a beautiful season—but it’s definitely an adjustment.
When life gets quieter, your feelings sometimes get louder.
I’m noticing things I didn’t always have time to notice before: how the changing seasons affect my energy, how much better I feel after genuine rest and how easy it is for me to measure my value by how needed I am.
For years, my days were shaped around caring for everyone else. Now I’m learning to include myself in that care too.
Sometimes I miss the constant activity and knowing exactly where I fit. But I’m also beginning to appreciate the freedom in not having every hour spoken for.
I can take a nap when my body needs one. I can enjoy a quiet morning. I can dream about growing our real estate business, renovating more homes, traveling with Johnny and creating experiences with the people I love.
Two things can be true at once.
I can miss earlier seasons while being excited about this one. I can love being included in my children’s lives while giving them room to create lives of their own. I can still be a devoted wife, mom and Lolli while rediscovering who Amber is too.
Maybe this quieter season isn’t about becoming less important.
Maybe it’s an invitation to live more intentionally—to choose where my energy goes, listen to what my body needs and make room for the things that bring me joy.
I don’t have every next step figured out, but I can feel changes coming. Some have already begun.
Life may be getting a little quieter, but my dreams are getting louder.
And I think I’m ready to listen.
Stay rosy,
Amber 🌸
